I watched the talk by Sir Ken Robinson that is posted on the web site TED. I watched this several months ago and again just recently. There are several things I got from the video.
1) His definition of creativity is original ideas that have value. He follows that most creativity stems from the interaction of different disciplines. The High School SPACES project is an example of this. We should be doing more!
2) Women are better at multi-tasking because of their different brain structure than males.
3) The school environment is not for everyone. For example, a student who loves to dance should be at a fine arts school instead of an academic school.
TED has lots of talks on a variety of topics.

Until society is ready for real "Education Reform"...how can we make the mandatory "school attendance" more flexible for the kids that are better off in different environments?
ReplyDeleteIs there a way to bring these disciplines in without hiring specialist teachers and building special purpose spaces?
There are some great ideas happening between Virtual High Schools & physical schools and Community groups that embed students in "real world" programs and projects.
